A teenager accused of sexually assaulting another student at a St Albans college was cleared by a jury Wednesday 2nd November 2016.

The 18-year-old was alleged to have touched the victims thigh on a bus to the city rail station from Oaklands College. The victim alleged the defendant touched their thigh again and tried to kiss them on a train to Luton, St Albans Crown Court was told.

The defendant told the jury: “We were joking about” and said that the victim had grabbed the defendants trousers on the bus. On the train, we denied rubbing their thigh and trying to kiss them, but just making conversation.

Alex Britton, defending, told the court the defendant had significant learning difficulties and was on the autistic spectrum.

The defendant was cleared of two charges of sexual assault.
