There are four types of criminal court in the UK – ranging from traffic court for minor offences to Crown Court where the most serious cases are heard. Which court your case will be heard in depends not only on the severity of the offence but on whether the offence is summary, either way or indictable only. Certain offences can only be heard in the magistrates’ court or Crown Court, while others can be heard in either.

We understand that being involved in a court case can be a highly stressful experience for both you and your family, and that your future and reputation may be on the line. Whether the case lasts for days, weeks or months, at Lawtons our specialist legal team will work alongside you every step of the way to offer non-judgmental guidance, advice and support when you need it most.
